Hanan’s Long Standing Commitment to Tech
Since opening our doors 75 years ago, the world has changed drastically!
We have become a much more technologically advanced society; almost every aspect of our day-to-day lives has been impacted by tech in one way or another. This is true for Hanan, as well as all companies that want to remain relevant and successfully serve their customers.
When Hanan first debuted in 1946, our founder, Stuart Hanan, made and packed all our products by hand. And over the decades, employees manually stacked boxes in our warehouse. This year, however, we adopted new technology that enables people to do the work that matters most.
With times changing and demand for a delicious, diverse range of ready-to-use dessert products growing, it’s important to keep up. Hanan recently announced the newest addition to our plant, a robot named Hugo that picks and stacks heavy boxes in our warehouse. Named after a now-retired 30-year employee whose favorite job was stacking boxes on pallets for shipping, our robot can pick up and stack 4,000 cases per day. Things sure have changed since (the new) Hugo joined our team!
Hugo makes the perfect addition to our plant, and our employees have welcomed “him” with open arms. Not only does Hugo take stress off employees, but it has enabled them to do higher-level work – leaving the heavy lifting to their robot “co-worker.”
A pioneer in the wholesale whipped topping, icing, and dessert filling sector and the original creator of Tasty Whip, we have been seeing an increase in demand for our products. These include vegan icings, Bavarian crémes and fillings, vegan ice cream, ready-to-whip and pre-whipped icings, tres leches, and more. Most of these products also come in various flavors, too, like vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, key lime, and more. With the development of these new and innovative dessert toppings and fillings, we needed to adopt new technologies designed to speed up delivery times – especially with the increased demand for our products and supply shortages industry wide.
