How Hanan is Helping to “Bake” a Difference

We are pleased and excited to announce that Hanan Products is now an official sponsor of Icing Smiles!

As a family-owned and operated business, Hanan Products prides itself on having that personal touch. Along with that, we are always looking for ways to give back. This is why once we learned of a nonprofit organization that provides custom celebration cakes to families impacted by the critical illness of a child, we knew we had to help.

Icing Smiles understands that simple things, like birthday cakes, are luxuries to families battling illness. Their goal is to create custom cakes for the ill children or siblings, that provide temporary escape from worry, and creates positive memories during difficult times. Hanan Products shares in their belief that “memories have magical powers. Long after the cake is gone, the memories linger – memories of the kindness of a stranger, of the art of the design, of the sweet smells of a special treat, of the smiles and laughs, of a normal childhood experience so often stolen from these children. These memories are why we say, ‘It is so much more than a cake.’”

Icing Smiles has served over 25,482 cakes since 2010. Over the past few years Covid has caused them to reduce the number of families they serve and has forced them to slightly change their model, such as moving to virtual bake sales. However, sadly, the number of children that could use Icing Smiles has not decreased. Therefore, Icing Smiles’ mission has not changed.

Icing Smiles relies on volunteers throughout the United States to bake their cakes. These volunteers are known as “Sugar Angels”. As you know, Hanan is not a bakery, so you may be wondering how we’re able to help…Although we’re not bakers, we manufacture toppings and fillings for a large customer base of bakers and cake decorators. We’re hoping to spread the word about this wonderful organization to help recruit more volunteers, especially in the tri-state area.

Hanan customers that sign up to become a Sugar Angel will receive a “swag bag” from both Icing Smiles and Hanan Products. Swag bags will include assorted branded materials as well as discount coupons for Hanan’s products. In addition, customers will be entered in a raffle to receive free Hanan products.

We’re so delighted to be a partner with Icing Smiles and start “baking a difference”. Be on the lookout for Icing Smile cards, which will now be included in mailings from Hanan Products.
